Recipes That Support Local Businesses

Recipes that support local businesses

Hi everyone, hope you are keeping safe and healthy during these uncertain times.  Thanks to my chronic illness, I haven’t been doing as much cooking as I’d like, so I thought I would make you a roundup post of my recipes that support local businesses in Central Pennsylvania.

bbq chicken kabobsPineapple Papaya BBQ Chicken Kabobs

The weather is getting warmer, so if you’re itching to get your grill out, start with this recipe.  Buy Pineapple Papaya BBQ Sauce online from Torchbearer Sauces to make these fruity kabobs. They only have one shipping day per week and one person in their warehouse at a time to ensure employees are social distancing and staying healthy.  You can get free shipping if you spend over $50, so stock up and follow their Facebook page for more recipes!

During this time, Calicutt’s retail store is closed, but they’re taking online orders.  The spiced cocoa that I used in this recipe isn’t currently available, but with flavors like Cardamom Coffee, Thai Siracha, and Vermont Maple, I’m sure you’ll find a spice blend you’ll like.

Make these nut butter oat bars with only three ingredients!  Blind Spot Nut Butters is taking online orders. You can use Squirrely Tail nut butter like I did in this recipe, or try another great flavor like Espresso Nut or Cinnamon Roll.

Seltzer’s Lebanon Bologna is made in Lebanon, PA, but you can purchase it at your favorite grocery store.  This is one of the most popular recipes on my blog and you’ll know why as soon as you bite into one of these roll ups.  Seltzer’s is taking great care and precaution for its staff during this time. You can read more about what they’re doing here

Gazebo Room is another local company taking care of its employees.  They’ve implemented additional cleaning and staffing procedures to keep their staff and customers safe and healthy.  If you’re health conscious, these Greek dressing kale chips make a great snack.  You can pick up their dressing at your favorite local grocery store.

I love this chocolate pudding with lavender so much.  Hope Hill Lavender Farm is taking online orders and they also have bath and body products in addition to their culinary products.  Follow them on Facebook for even more delicious recipes using lavender.

This bread dip is really easy to make.  Just mix up the ingredients and dip in your favorite bread.  Tastealotta is only open for curbside pick up at their store in Lemoyne at this time.  You can also order online.
