I made a cream cheese and shrimp cocktail spread before with cream cheese, shrimp, and cocktail sauce, but this spicy blue crab and cream cheese spread is even easier. You only need two ingredients!
Mike Dawg knows how to make sauces. The spicy blue crab sauce has ingredients such as: chunks of crab meat, old bay, and serrano peppers. You won’t need any extra ingredients in this recipe. Do you remember the hot garlic wings I made? There’s another simple and spicy recipe made with Mike Dawg’s sauces.
Now, let’s talk about the cream cheese. D. Mitchell Foods has been selling their cream cheese at farmer’s markets in Central PA and Philadelphia and they are now expanding to sell in local grocery stores. I purchased mine through Apple Valley Creamery. Made with Lancaster County milk, this cream cheese is sweet and even creamier than your commercially produced cream cheese. The sweetness from this cream cheese tones down the spice of the blue crab sauce. I honestly would eat this cream cheese straight from the container. I may or may not have done so when making the blue crab spread.
The blue crab spread is so creamy with just the right amount of kick from the spices. This kicks the butt of your old school cream cheese and shrimp cocktail spread. If you have a sensitive palate, I have to warn you, even with the cream cheese, it is still spicy!
Having a party and don’t know what to make? Whip this up in only a few short minutes and serve it with crackers or tortillas. I guarantee it will be a big hit. I recommend allowing the cream cheese to soften first so that it is easier to mix in the blue crab sauce. Refrigerate it until you’re ready to serve it to your guests.
